Terms of Service

Who can use Gezin

Gezin is intended to be set up and managed by adults for their household. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract in your country, to create an account. An adult who manages a family is responsible for the members and content they add, including any information about children.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up, keep it current, do not share your account with others, and let us know promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Acceptable use

Use the Service lawfully and respectfully. You agree not to:

• break, overload, or interfere with the Service, or circumvent its rate limits, security, or other protective measures;
• access data or accounts that are not yours, or attempt to;
• upload or share content that is unlawful, infringing, harmful, harassing, deceptive, or that violates others’ rights or privacy;
• reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the Service except as permitted by law;
• use the Service to build a competing product, or resell or sublicense it.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Your content and family sharing

You keep ownership of the content you add (events, tasks, meals, recipes, lists, and member details). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content as needed to operate the Service and make it available within your family. Gezin is collaborative by design: content you add to a family is visible to that family’s members, so only share what you’re comfortable with them seeing. You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the rights needed to share it.

Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback about the Service, we may use them without restriction or obligation to you. You grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use feedback to operate and improve the Service.

AI features

Gezin’s AI features generate suggestions from content you choose to submit — pasted text, links, forwarded emails, or photos. Suggestions may be inaccurate or incomplete; you review and approve them before anything is saved, and you are responsible for what you choose to keep and act on. AI features are subject to fair-usage limits. How we process AI content, and the providers involved, is described in our Privacy Policy.

Third-party services and connected accounts

The Service relies on third parties (such as Google for sign-in and calendar sync, our hosting, email, and AI providers, and the app stores). When you connect a third-party account, you authorize us to access it as needed for the feature you enabled, and your use of that service remains subject to its own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, and your relationship with them is solely between you and them. See our Privacy Policy for the providers we use.

Our intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, and the Gezin name and logo — is owned by Gezin and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your household, subject to these Terms. We reserve all rights not expressly granted. You may not remove or obscure our proprietary notices, or use our trademarks without permission.

Plans and payment

Gezin’s core features are free to use. Some AI-based features are capped by a fair-usage limit. If we offer paid plans in the future, their pricing, billing, and any renewal or cancellation terms will be presented to you clearly before you purchase, and purchases made through an app store will also be subject to that store’s terms.

Copyright and takedowns

We respect intellectual property rights and expect you to do the same. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, contact us at hello@getgezin.com with enough detail to identify the content and your rights, and we will review and, where appropriate, remove it. We may suspend accounts that repeatedly infringe.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We don’t guarantee the Service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that AI suggestions or synced data will be accurate or complete, or that it will meet your every need.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Gezin and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold Gezin and its operators harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of another party.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. On termination, your right to use the Service ends and your content may be deleted, except where we are required or permitted to retain it. Some provisions, by their nature, survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification).

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t agree, stop using the Service.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of the Netherlands, except where mandatory local law gives you, as a consumer, the right to bring a claim in your own country of residence or preserves rights that cannot be waived. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation or applicable consumer-protection law.

Notices and electronic communications

You agree that we may provide notices and communications to you electronically — in the app, by email to the address on your account, or by posting on the Service — and that these satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing. Keep your email address current so you receive them.

App store terms

If you download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, your use is also subject to that store’s terms. For the Apple App Store: these Terms are between you and Gezin, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide support or to address any claims relating to the app; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you with respect to your license to use the app.

Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
